Quinn Walker is a Portland-based trumpet player, composer, arranger, and jazz educator. As a bandleader, collaborator, and educator, he has become an active presence in the jazz communities of both Portland and Eugene while earning a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Portland State University in 2019 and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from University of Oregon in 2022.

Quinn regularly performs with numerous ensembles, including Bobby Torres, the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble, Conjunto Alegre, Barrio Mestizo, Pa’lante, and his own groups, The Quinn Walker Quartet and bigSMALLband. He has shared the stage with many of Oregon’s leading jazz artists, including Chuck Israels and the Chuck Israels Jazz Orchestra, Ezra Weiss, Randy Porter, George Colligan, and others including Charlie Doggett, Joe Manis, Dan Gaynor, Steve Owen, and Dave Captein

As a composer and arranger, Quinn has been featured on multiple projects with the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble and regularly writes for his own ensembles. While studying at the University of Oregon, he was hired as an arranger for award-winning drummer and big band leader Ulysses Owens Jr.. In December 2022, Owens performed Quinn’s arrangements during a week-long residency at Dizzy's Club in New York City. Quinn’s big band composition, “Jinkx,” was featured on the 2026 Oregon state championship-winning set for Grant High School at the Oregon Jazz Championships. He also works extensively as a freelance arranger, specializing in jazz, pop, and Latin styles.

In addition to performing and composing, Quinn is an active jazz educator in the Portland area. He serves as an adjunct professor at Portland State University, Mt. Hood Community College, and Clackamas Community College. He is also the artist-in-residence leading the jazz program at Mount Tabor Middle School through the Montavilla Jazz Festival education program, assists local high school jazz programs, and maintains a private trumpet studio.

Through his work as a performer and educator, Quinn strives to create music that honors jazz tradition while embracing contemporary styles. He is equally passionate about helping younger musicians discover the creativity, connection, and excitement that jazz can inspire.
